Barton: ‘I feel sorry for Gareth Southgate’
Former QPR player Joey Barton tells 5 live Sport he feels sorry for England Under-21 manager Gareth Southgate following their early exit in the European Championships.
The midfielder said that "whilst the Premier League is stronger than the FA it will be impossible for England to build good teams".
Barton claims players are encouraged to care a lot more about playing for their clubs than for the Under-21s, adding that Harry Kane is a rare exception of a top-class player who is proud to represent his country.
