Neil Lennon: 'We shouldn’t feel ashamed about depression'
Speaking about his experience of depression Neil Lennon said that at the end of an old firm game rather than celebrate he was just glad it was all over. The current Bolton Manager was speaking to 5 live about the mental illness on the day in which fellow former professional footballer and sufferer of depression Clarke Carlisle revealed that he felt "no shame" about his recent suicide attempt. Lennon explained that following one of the biggest games of his career: "All I did was sit in the dressing room, and whilst everyone else was euphoric, I was just glad it was over." "There was no love or enjoyment, it was difficult to put on a pair of boots. Everything you do naturally in life and you enjoy, becomes the opposite."
Lennon further added that "Whilst we all feel ashamed of it but we shouldn't be ashamed of it. The most important thing is that you can get better from it."
