World's best teacher: Writing skills key to success
Nancie Atwell, who won the Global Teacher Award, says "if you can write, you can do anything". She has given her prize money of $1m to the school that she founded in Maine in the Unted States. Mrs Atwell says that her students "read forty books a year on average". Some of her pupils have learned to write as a teenager and then gone on to study at top universities like Harvard.
