Rupert Pearce: 'UK a solid place to do business'
Inmarsat was set up by the UN in 1979 to monitor and safeguard shipping from space.
Now a private company, it has become a market leader in mobile satellite communications.
Simon Jack met the boss Rupert Pearce at its high-tech mission control in East London.
"It's very capital intensive and it's a very long term business because the assets last 20 to 25 years," he said.
"What any business needs...is stability. The UK remains a very good solid place to do business," he added.
