Auclair: Zouma the new Desailly for Chelsea?

Football writer Philippe Auclair believes Kurt Zouma has potential to replicate Marcel Desailly’s success and status at Chelsea.

“From a French perspective I can tell you we are very excited about what is happening with Kurt Zouma at Chelsea.”

“If the is one player Kurt Zouma is basing his game on, it is Marcel Desailly.”

Desailly made over 150 appearances for the Blues and is held in high regard by the Stamford Bridge faithful.

“In his first [league] start [against Newcastle] he was absolutely remarkable. He was so impressive. Again, when we see him in France, we feel we’re seeing Marcel again.”

The 20-year-old centre-back has put in a number of impressive performances for the London-based club and is widely expected to break in to the senior national team this year.
