Hour by hour: An A&E doctor's night shift
A doctor has recorded an audio diary of his night shift on an A&E ward to show the pressure placed on the department.
The doctor, known only as "Dr Ali," revealed how he was forced to treat a patient with potentially critical abdominal injuries in an eye treatment room, because it was the only one available.
Dr Ali said although the department was "overcrowded" and "very busy," they could not tell people not to come because they did not "want to miss out" on treating those who needed it.
It comes after pressure on hospital A&E departments led to several declaring 'major incident' status this week.
