Aberdeen is the centre of an off-shore oil boom in the North Sea which has been going on for almost 40 years. Peter Day talks to Sir Ian Wood, a local businessman who transformed his father’s fishing boat company into what became a huge global supplier to the oil industry worldwide. Sir Ian was there when the oil first started to flow and he tells his story – and Aberdeen’s – charting the development of the North Sea energy industry.
