Elements and their symbols
Elements are described as atoms of a substance that cannot be divided further into different types. Aluminium in a can is used as an example. It is explained that there are more atoms of aluminium in a single ring-pull than all the sand on the UK’s beaches. Carbon in charcoal and gold are also used as examples. The symbols of elements are explained.
