Examing a body of poetry that has helped to shape our view of war in the 20th century, and traces its origins back through Tennyson's 'Charge of the Light Brigade' to Homer's chronicles of the ancient Greeks. Including an explanation of the various purposes of war poetry in WW1 and contrasting it with earlier war poetry which glorified war rather than brought it's horrors to life.
