Britain's labour market faces a "slow, painful contraction" with firms delaying the recruitment of more staff.
The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development predicts that the employment situation is set to get worse, even in the medium term. Hertfordshire-based John Philpott from the institute says employees are holding back because of uncertainty about the future.
