Jeremy Vine's Sony Award-winning interview with Gordon Brown
On 28th April 2010, Jeremy Vine interviewed Prime Minister Gordon Brown in Manchester during the General Election campaign. The Prime Minister listened to a recording of his own off camera remarks - picked up by a Sky News microphone still pinned to his shirt - made about Gillian Duffy, who he described as a "bigoted woman" after she spoke to him in Rochdale.
This interview was named Best Interview in the 2011 Sony Radio Awards.
What the Judges Said: "A broadcaster at the top of his trade, with intimate knowledge of his subject he dissects Gordon Brown then uses the infamous 'She's a bigot' tape to hammer home the final nail in the prime-ministerial coffin. This is current affairs at its most powerful."
