Cllr Joe Anderson, leader of Liverpool City Council, takes BBC Radio Merseyside listeners calls about the announcement of 1,500 job losses.
Joe Anderson said he takes no pleasure in the knowledge that colleagues will lose their jobs, but central government's budget cuts have left the authority no choice.
He told Roger Phillips that everything is under consideration but that raising council tax in the city was out of the question.
