Ireland and smoking

What do you think of the Euro/UK bail-out of Ireland's economy? Why do you think the government sees it as so important? Do you think it would have happened in reverse (if the UK needed help)? Where is the money coming from?
Plus, the government is planning to ask cigarette manufacturers to make packaging more plain, in order to discourage people from buying their products. Do you thing this could work? What made you start/stop smoking?
