BBC Newcastle's Frank Wappat has decided to retire from the station after nearly forty years on the air. Three months ago Frank suffered a stroke which has left him with a condition known as Aphasia.
BBC Newcastle's Frank Wappat has decided to retire from the station after nearly forty years on the air. Three months ago Frank suffered a stroke which has left him with a condition known as Aphasia.
On his decision to retire Frank says âThe reality is that I can no longer give 110% to my radio shows, so I have sadly resigned from my broadcasting commitments. No one likes to make tough decisions and this one has been the hardest of my lifeâ. A special programme celebrating Frank's career will be broadcast on Sunday 22nd August from 7pm.
