Smelly offering

In the Thar Desert male blackbuck establish mini-territories (leks) for the rut. Only male blackbuck are black, and their coats are darkest at this time of year. A male makes a dung and urine pile to attract females with its smell. Birds and insects are attracted by the dung. A harrier catches a small bird. Jackals trot about the area, but the blackbuck ignore them and stick to guarding their territories.
