Defensive tactics
In the forests of Sinharajah in Sri Lanka, caterpillars use a range of defences: warning colours indicate that there’s something to be wary of for potential predators, eyespots mimic a much larger animal and poisonous spines are the last line of defence for the persistent. But the grey hornbill knows how to defeat even these.
