Family Ties

In this first episode of Outliers, we encounter three unconventional family dynamics. In Seoul, South Korea, we meet a grandmother who found a new lease of life creating videos with her granddaughter and in doing so becoming a social media sensation. In Mexico City, we hear from women convicts allowed to live in prison with their babies, who face the agonising prospect of being separated from their children once they reach the age of 6. And in Tokyo, we discover a burgeoning industry in Japan supplying role-playing family members to individuals struggling with loneliness and loss in their lives.
