Zeinab Badawi meets Ghazi Salahuddin, chairman of Sudanese opposition group Reform Now. Will politicians like him have a place in a post-Bashir country?
Zeinab Badawi speaks to Ghazi Salahuddin, the Chairman of the opposition grouping Reform Now. After protests by angry citizens brought about the end of the thirty-year rule of Omar El Bashir, Sudan is at a critical crossroads. The army officers who deposed Mr Bashir and are detaining him have set up a ruling military council which they say will stay in place for two years. But the African Union is demanding it hand over to a transitional civilian administration and the protesters say they won't give up until that happens. Salahuddin was until 2013 a key adviser of President Bashir and was associated with leadership of the Islamist wing of the governing party. Will politicians like him have a place in post-Bashir Sudan?
