2018 Review

In a special edition Talking Movies looks back at highlights from the world of cinema in 2018. It was a year when the #MeToo and Time's Up movements appeared to bring benefits to women in the film industry - the programme looks at the changes that took place and evaluates whether they were more symbolic than real. 2018 was also a strong year for black cinema with films like the superhero blockbuster Black Panther bringing greater diversity to the big screen. Talking Movies hears from key black filmmakers asking what they make of this new wave of black cinema. Finally, in keeping with tradition the show takes a look at its top ten films of 2018.
