HARDtalk is on the road in Eastern Libya. From Benghazi Stephen Sackur examines Marshal Haftar's impact on Libya and looks at his ambitions for the future.
HARDtalk is on the road in Eastern Libya. Benghazi has been torn apart by six years of war. After the fall of Gaddafi, Libya plunged into anarchy with radical Islamists seizing control of Benghazi. Thousands were killed, and tens of thousands fled. Three years ago Marshal Khalifa Haftar took command of the self-proclaimed Libyan National Army and waged war on the extremists. Recently, Marshal Haftar declared Benghazi to be liberated and his forces now control most of eastern Libya. From Benghazi Stephen Sackur examines Marshal Haftar's impact on Libya and looks at his ambitions for the future.
