Women in Film

In a special edition, Talking Movies will focus on the plight of women in the film business. For years women have been shut out of jobs, denied awards and equal pay. Women are almost completely absent from large parts of the industry. Only a small percentage of the 100 top-grossing films every year are directed by women - and a female filmmaker hardy ever gets to oversee a big-budget live-action picture. Talking Movies looks at the challenges facing women in film - and hears from a range of female screenwriters, directors and stars who are fighting to improve their status.
