Designed In China

As part of BBC World News' Designed in China Season, the BBC's Asia Business Correspondent, Karishma Vaswani, explores the Chinese companies and brands attempting to go global.

China, the world's second largest economy, was built largely on cheap manufacturing, copycat products and borrowed technology. As the model for the country's economic growth shifts, a new innovative core of technology and industrial processes have helped some Chinese companies break out of that mould. But the journey from Made in China to Designed in China is just beginning. As a new breed of Chinese companies find their footing in the international marketplace - will their Chinese origins help or hinder their global ambitions? As part of BBC World News' Designed in China Season, Karishma Vaswani meets three companies, each of them leading the way ahead in their respective fields, to find out.
