China's People's Liberation Army - the world's largest military force - was once synonymous with internal repression following the brutal crackdown on student protesters in Tiananmen Square in 1989.
But now the PLA is trying to change. For the first time foreign TV cameras have been allowed to film its inner workings. For Our World Steve Hewlett has gained exclusive access to the PLA's officer training programme, as China's vast military machine re-invents itself as a force fit for the twenty-first century.
