Schooled on and off the pitch in the village of Bayble on the Isle of Lewis, Ally was a teenage football prodigy. A successful football scholarship in Indiana in the USA followed spells with Partick Thistle and Ross County. With hopes of a professional career on the horizon, a devastating leg break shattered his dream of playing full time.

Despite the heartbreak, Ally's love for the game and determination only grew stronger, using his setback as motivation to find another way to the top flight of football. Soon a global career as a player agent set Ally up for a meteoric rise through MLS - or Major League Soccer. A spell as assistant general manager, helping establish new club Nashville SC as a major force in the league, led to the call from DC United to become one of the youngest general managers in American soccer.
