Handel's Messiah

French harpsichordist and conductor Christophe Rousset leads an all-star cast of soloists, the Monteverdi Choir and the English Baroque Soloists in Handel's oratorio 'Messiah'.

Radio 3 in Concert goes festive for Christmas week, starting tonight with the English Baroque Soloists and the Monteverdi Choir giving a special performance at St Martin-in-the-Fields in London of Handel's iconic oratorio 'Messiah. The Monteverdi Choir and English Baroque Soloists were one of the very first 'period' groups to record the Messiah, and tonight they are joined by an all-star cast of soloists headed by Sarah Connolly, and conducted by the renowned French harpsichordist and conductor, Christophe Rousset.

Recorded at St Martin-in-the-Fields in Trafalgar Square London, on 16th December, and presented by Martin Handley.
