
King's Theatre first shows, Hamilton, composer Euan Stevenson, Tinderbox Orchestra
The hit Broadway and West End musical Hamilton is running at the Theatre Royal in Glasgow. Len chats to cast member Sylvie Stenson about bringing the production to her home city.
With the announcement today of the shows that will open the newly refurbished King's Theatre in Edinburgh next summer, Len chats to Capital Theatres' CEO, Fiona Gibson, to find out what audiences can look forward to.
The hit musical Hamilton is currently on at the Theatre Royal in Glasgow. Len chats to cast member Sylvie Stenson, who is back in a city she knows well, having studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Scottish composer Euan Stevenson works across many genres. His training was in classical music but he's the musical director, pianist and arranger for jazz singer Georgia Cecile and has composed music for supermodel Naomi Campbell to walk down the catwalk to at London Fashion Week. Today, he talks about his new work, a collaboration for Christmas with leading soprano Julia Doyle.
And Tinderbox Orchestra's new single, Echoes of Creation, is set to be premiered at the Push the Boat Out Festival in Edinburgh at the weekend . It’s in support of the We Make Music Instrument Libraries initiative, which aims to get musical instruments into public libraries, making them as accessible as books. Poet and former Craigmillar Library manager Hannah McCooke joins Len to talk about collaborating on the single.
