Tonight Soweto presents concert highlights from rising tenor saxophonist Maddy Coombs and her band, recorded live at the Fickle Pickle as part of Southend Jazz Festival.
‘Round Midnight is presented by award-winning saxophonist Soweto Kinch. This weekday late-night show celebrates the thriving UK jazz scene and spotlights the best new music alongside incredible acts from past decades.
Tonight Soweto presents concert highlights from rising tenor saxophonist Maddy Coombs and her band, recorded live at the Fickle Pickle as part of Southend Jazz Festival. Originally from Northampton and now based in London, Maddy is a key part of the city's jazz community and recently graduated from Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She is also part of the Tomorrow’s Warriors family and is currently part of the organisation’s Emerging Artist development programme.
Maddy's performance featured original compositions as well as some favourite jazz standards, all delivered with her notable melodic sound. She was joined by fellow talented musicians and Warrior members, pianist Emily Tran, bassist Nathan Dawkins, and drummer Wilf Cameron Marples.
