Tomoki Sanders’ 4/4

Soweto’s guest this week is saxophonist, drummer, multi-instrumentalist and child of saxophone colossus Pharoah Sanders, Tomoki Sanders.

‘Round Midnight is presented by award-winning saxophonist Soweto Kinch. This weekday late-night show celebrates the thriving UK jazz scene and spotlights the best new music alongside incredible acts from past decades.

Soweto’s guest this week is saxophonist, drummer, multi-instrumentalist and child of saxophone colossus Pharoah Sanders, Tomoki Sanders. Since graduating from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Tomoki has become a core part of the New York jazz community, and has worked with artists including Ravi Coltrane, Kassa Overall and Jack DeJohnette. They also co-lead duo project Planet Q with musician Kyoko Takenaka and have a debut solo project on the horizon.

To start their week, Tomoki selects a track by a jazz vocalist that they admire. Also in the programme, there is music from Anmol Mohara, Yuhan Su, and Tom McEwen Trio.
