Joe Mahon and Lisa Flavelle - Broadcaster’s Established and New!

Chatting to Lisa Flavelle’s about her new show on Radio Ulster, legendary broadcaster Joe Mahon and some exciting new music.

Helen Mark presents BBC Radio Ulster’s weekly Ulster-Scots magazine show alongside Rab Lennox, Willie Hill and Jonnie Crawford.
This week – two wonderful broadcasters catch up with the Kintra team. Helen catches up with the man who gave her a big ‘break’ on radio – the legendary Joe Mahon. Joe discusses how attitudes to the Ulster-Scots language have changed throughout his distinguished career – which has included many episodes of ‘Lesser Spotted Ulster’ and ‘Mahon’s Way.’
Meanwhile, Willie speaks to Lisa Flavelle (daughter of late musician Jackie) – a comparatively new voice to Kintra listeners. Lisa presents a new BBC Radio Ulster show - ‘Ulster-Scots Rhythms’ - on BBC Radio Ulster right after Kintra on a Sunday.
Finally – Rab has some new music to share from an exciting duo called KMQxBP – whom he met up with while over in Glasgow.
As always, listeners are invited to contact the programme with a good Ulster-Scots yarn or event to talk about. The easiest way to do that is by email - [email protected].
