Main content

Miriam Margolyes looks beyond the pristine beauty of New Zealand’s South Island to understand the challenges New Zealanders face and what they say about who they are as a nation.

Miriam Margolyes continues her mission to better understand New Zealand and its people. She’s enchanted by the country’s unique heritage and beauty, and she wants to understand the challenges facing this far-flung nation and how Kiwis today are dealing with them.

She attends a unique community gym in Auckland, meets a member of an organised crime gang in Wellington, and then crosses into South Island, where she sees the island's rugged and remote landscape and uncovers stories of great strength, tragedy and spirit.
