2. Peter and Paula

Mr Emmanuel is an earwigger.

He likes to eavesdrop on other peoples' conversations.

He always lunches at the same restaurant, and selects the table nearest the diners who will provide him with the best entertainment.

Today, Mr Emmanuel is at a table next to a brother and sister. The casual observer would not think that Peter and Paula were related.

But Mr Emmanuel is more than a casual observer. By the end of the meal, he knows a great deal more about them.
