When Dublin singer-songwriter Aaron Smyth (AKA A Smyth) released his debut album “Last Animals” in 2021, it was met with rave reviews and it felt like a vindication. A vindication of the decision to go solo after years of playing in bands and a vindication also of the decision to follow his own artistic instincts and make the music he truly believed in. Four years later and he has just released the outstanding follow-up album, “Hello Goliath”. From the songs’ meticulous arrangements and melodies to the compelling subject matter, on “Hello Goliath”, Aaron reveals himself to be a true craftsman obsessed with the emotional storytelling power of music. In this week’s programme, Aaron plays a few songs in session and chats to Stephen about the new album.
