Zakia’s May Day Mixtape

The broadcaster, writer, and DJ shares a special May Day themed mixtape.

‘Round Midnight is presented by award-winning saxophonist Soweto Kinch. This weekday late-night show celebrates the thriving UK jazz scene and spotlights the best new music alongside incredible acts from past decades.

Soweto welcomes DJ, writer, and host of BBC Radio 6 Music’s Dream Time, Zakia Sewell, as his Friday night guest. A sonic explorer, with a deep interest in British culture and mythology, Zakia has also presented and produced programmes for BBC Radio 4 and BBC World Service.

Tonight, Zakia has curated a special 30-minute mixtape in homage to the arrival of summer in the Northern Hemisphere, and as the UK Early May Bank Holiday weekend begins. Expect a calming selection of tracks rooted in jazz and folk traditions.
