Offering laughs and musical merriment, Variety Bandbox started life at the end of the Second World War.

It was broadcast on BBC General Forces and later transferred to the BBC Light Programme running until 1952.

The series helped to launch a number of stars.

In this episode Frankie Howerd lets us in on his celebrations of Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation. And sings a favourite ‘old Tibetan’ folk song.

Derek Roy lets us in on the latest cinema trends.

Semprini plays a piano medley and Vanessa Lee sings a medley of ‘All The Things You Are’ and ‘Lover’.
