The Mango Tree
The Mango Tree supports access to education and training that empowers children, young people and their communities to build sustainable livelihoods and overcome poverty. For the past 20 years, it has invested more than £15 million into education, health and development projects and has supported 27,000 orphaned children and young people to attend school in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Malawi.
Obina’s story

Obina loved school, but dropped out when her father died to support her mother and siblings. When her mother remarried, Obina was abused by her stepfather. The Mango Tree provided her a safe refuge along with schooling, medical help and counselling.
A safe place to learn and thrive

The Mango Tree's Girls' Secondary School opened in 2022. Offering a diverse curriculum of good quality education to disadvantaged girls from poor rural areas in western Kenya, it now provides nearly 200 girls with a safe space to learn and thrive.
Girls’ rescue centre

Many of the girls supported by The Mango Tree have suffered trauma through domestic abuse, modern-day slavery and rape. The charity’s rescue centre provides a safe place for girls to escape hardship, and the school helps them get back into education.
