France, 1735 at the Chateau of Comte Raoul de Vriaac, a Count and a Duke have dinner.
Having been close friends since their youth, they want their respective children to marry each other.
But the young couple concerned, Adrienne and Miguel, are not happy with this arrangement, for, although fond of each other, they both love someone else.
