'I wanted to disassociate myself from being African, because there was no sense of pride in it'. He's talking to us about how he wants to paint a different picture of Africa to the one he saw in the Band Aid song, Do They Know It's Christmas?, which was originally billed as a way to raise money for famine in Ethiopia 40 years ago.
