Jackie Kay is a Scottish poet, playwright and novelist. To reflect the week of National Poetry Day she is Soweto's guest on 4/4 picking records that are special to her from her personal collection. Tonight she starts us off with a song by African-American blues singer, Bessie Smith.

Plus, there's music from Ishmael Ensemble, Bud Powell and Fergus McCreadie.
