In 2018 Toby Carr set out to sea kayak all 31 areas of the BBC Shipping Forecast - sadly he died before he was able to achieve his goal. Now, his sister Katie takes up the challenge.
The BBC is about to celebrate 100 years of the Shipping Forecast - the iconic late night radio broadcast that updates mariners on sea and weather conditions around the British Isles and further afield.
In 2018 university lecturer Toby Carr set out to sea kayak all 31 areas of the Shipping Forecast - sadly he died from a life-limiting genetic condition before he was able to achieve his goal. Now his sister Katie takes up the challenge to complete Toby's mission. Learning how to sea kayak is just one of the obstacles she must face as she undertakes this perilous journey, learning lessons about life and loss along the way.
