Vernon Kay is joined by one of the UK’s most successful songwriters, who’s been described as having an exuberant ear for melody and his lyrics a keen eye and a brilliant wit. Paul Heaton picks his Tracks of My Years.

Paul first emerged in the 80s as the front man of The Housemartins - counting Norman Cook among his bandmates – and scored hits with “Caravan of Love” and “Happy Hour”. Then with “Song For Whoever”, “Rotterdam” and “Don’t Marry Her” he then went on to even greater success in The Beautiful South.

After releasing several solo albums, in 2014 Paul reunited with his former Beautiful South bandmate Jacqui Abbott to release a new album. 'What Have We Become?' It was a critical success and they went on to record five acclaimed albums as a duo.

He certainly isn’t slowing down, earlier this year Paul performed at Glastonbury; he’ll be heading to Preston for Radio 2 in the Park next week, and in November he’ll be out on tour with the release of his a new album, "The Mighty Several".
