STAND
STAND supports amputees across Sub-Saharan Africa, where over 90% of people who need artificial limbs don’t have them. We refurbish limbs that are otherwise headed to a landfill in the UK, and send them to our community health projects.
Meet Mr Musa Sowe

Musa, a farmer from The Gambia, had his leg amputated after an infection. He received a prosthetic leg from STAND and continues to be supported through our outreach programme. Today, Musa is still farming and providing for his family.
Mobile Rehabilitation Clinics

In The Gambia there is only one specialist rehabilitation centre in the entire country, so some patients have to travel hundreds of miles for treatment. Our mobile clinics bring essential services directly to amputees in their communities.
Psycho-social and Community Outreach Support

Amputees often face severe mental health challenges, exacerbated by isolation and stigma. STAND provides counselling and peer support services, delivered by local professionals and those with lived experience, so no one has to walk alone.
