"What is a 'stiff' drink?"
Sean wonders why a drink is described as 'stiff'.
“What is a stiff drink?” asks Sean. “I mean, why do we say, I need a ‘stiff’ drink?”
“A stiff drink is a strong drink,” says Patrick in Derry. “It means strong, like whiskey! You need to get out a bit more!”
“Yes, I do,” Sean says, “but I know what it is. I want to know why we say it’s ‘stiff’!”
“It’s a drink that will stiffen your resolve,” says Derek.
“I like that,” Sean says.
“It’s because if you drink too many of them, you’ll end up on your back as stiff as a board!” says Willie the Whinge.
With music from Billy Swan, Jerry Lee Lewis, Status Quo, and more.
