Vernon Kay welcomes actor Martin Compston, to guide us along his 10-song musical journey in this week’s compilation edition of Tracks of My Years. We’ll hear how Martin began life as a promising footballer - a Youth Player for Aberdeen before signing for his local professional club Greenock Morton.

However, in 2002, he decided upon a complete change of direction and, having never acted before, auditioned and successfully secured the lead role in Ken Loach’s “Sweet 16”, which shot him to stardom before landing roles in the films “The Damned United”, “The Wee Man” and “Mary Queen of Scots”. But he is perhaps best known for his role as DI Steve Arnott in the BBC’s smash-hit drama “Line of Duty” as well other notable TV roles including “Monarch of the Glen”, “The Nest” “Mayflies” and “The Rig”.

A couple of years ago, Martin and his good friend Phil MacHugh toured his beloved homeland in the series ‘Martin Compston’s Scottish Fling’, and this week Martin returns to our screens with a new six-part series ‘Martin Compston’s Norwegian Fling.’
