'She charged him for the extra teabag!'
Sean remembers the time when Gerry Anderson got charged double for an extra teabag.
“Marie Louise Kerr has been telling me about the price of a cup of coffee,” Sean says. “She paid £3.10. I said, ‘Daughter dear, you have more money than sense! Three pounds ten pence for a cup of coffee!' So it made me think. What would you pay for a cup of tea? Because I think I would start at about 75p, upwards of 90p. Top whack, a quid. Because, let’s face it, what are you getting? A teabag, boiling water, a teabag, and a wee drop of milk!”
Janet says she would pay £1.90.
“Get a grip on yourself, Janet!”
Janet reminds Sean of a story Gerry Anderson used to tell about a cup of coffee he got in an airport.
“He always liked his tea strong,” Janet says, “and he asked for an extra teabag. The girl asked for £3.60. He said, ‘Sure it’s only £1.80!’ She charged him the price of an extra teabag!”
