Episode 5: It’s party time across the entire continent!

It’s new years eve – and Neil Hannon is here to add a little Europop to your party soundtrack!

However – don’t expect non stop bangers and rampant familiarity – while this is still music designed to make you dance and have fun Neil is still – for the most part – indulging his love of the lost European gem. In this edition, there’s a sort of remix of Frederic Chopin (seriously), a little Stereo Total, a half French duet for Elton John and – of course – Abba. They have a song called ‘Happy New Year’ for goodness sake. in.

On the opening episode of series 2, he discovers an incredible 1980s Soviet Union aerobics soundtrack, revisits a gem from a Swedish rock act we’d all forgotten about, argues the case for pop acts taking up classical music and plays a little dance tune he’s really not quite sure about.
