'I’ve pinned Bert Whoriskey on the fridge!'

Iris in Ballyclare says she’s pinned up a reminder of Sean’s special Coyle & Co programme - Bert Whoriskey’s Wartime.

“I have pinned a note of the Bert Whoriskey’s Wartime programme on the fridge,” says Iris in Ballyclare. “My Daddy was in the two world wars, and I will listen to every second of it!”

“Bert Whoriskey’s Wartime is a special Coyle & Co programme for Christmas,” Sean says. “Bert Whoriskey is the gentleman I interviewed, and the show is about his memories of the Second World War. He lived in Lisahally. He remembers how it changed from a sleepy little village to having soldiers, navy men, and boats coming in to dock, and how exciting it was when he was a little boy though he didn’t understand the seriousness of it all.”

“I enjoyed the interview,” says the Bready Bandit. “You should do more of those special Coyle & Co programmes, and maybe give the Joe Dolan records a bit of a rest!”

“You can listen right now on BBC Sounds, just search for Coyle & Co... or you can wait for it to be broadcast on 27th December on BBC Radio Foyle at one o’clock.”

With music from Chuck Berry, Paul Simon, George Jones and Tammy Wynette, Freddie Fender, and more.
