The last league meeting between the two sides at Kenilworth Road took place in 1991, when Luton held Liverpool to a goalless draw. However, the Reds were comfortable winners during their last encounter with the Hatters, triumphing 5-0 at Anfield in an FA Cup tie in 2008.
