Around a hundred people staged a protest outside Radio Foyle against cuts to the station's news programmes. The BBC announced that the two-hour Breakfast programme would be replaced by a half-hour programme and the News at One would be axed. Some local weekday bulletins will be retained. It's part of a wider shake-up across the BBC as part of a Digital first strategy. A BBC spokesperson said lengthy and detailed engagement was had with the trade unions about savings and renewal plans.
