Earthquake death toll nears 8,000
International aid efforts are being stepped up in southern Turkey and northern Syria following Monday's earthquake which has - so far - killed almost 8,000 people.

The frontier region between Turkey and Syria is one of the world’s most active areas in terms of seismic movement. The initial earthquakes triggered dozens of aftershocks, all along what's known as the East Anatalonian faultline.
