Celebrating Saint Brigid, who is making history by becoming the first female patron saint to have her own bank holiday
A Culture Cafe special celebrating Saint Brigid, who is making history by becoming the first female patron saint to have her own bank holiday.
Marie-Louise Muir is joined by Imbolc International Music Festival organisers Eibhlín Ní Dhochartaigh and Mary Delargey, Ellen O'Malley from Bard Mythologies and Laura Murphy - a Brigid's Day campaigner and Herstory's poet in residence.
Together they investigate the fact and folklore to try and get to the truth about who Brigid was - revered as a saint and a warrior - with a look back to pre-Christian mythology and a focus on her enduring legacy as a feminist icon.
